Warehouse with increaseingly high-level racking have become state of art.
There are very strict requirements for the flatness of a floor which is subjected to high level trucking traffic. The higher the loads are raised, the more accurately the equipment control system must operate. If the floor is not level, the fork on the truck will miss the limited space available or cause damage when removing pallets.
The strict specification for level floor for storage areas, production facilities etc. are defined in German Standard DIN 18 202.
The limits in DIN 18 202 line 3 are not compulsary for all high-level storage areas, many storage system manufacturers now require stricter level tolerances than in DIN 18 202. High-level storage areas using the
In gangways and areas trafficked by loaded trucks, the tables in DIN 15 185 apply to the floor tolerances in millimetres. The higher the lift of the truck, the greater the floor flatness required. The level across the aisle is also given in DIN 15 185 because it is critical for pallet removal.
If the floor is not level. the vehicle tips and the grab arm is not in the right position to reach the pallet.
When the grab arm goes up or down, the is the tolerance of only 25 mm. between the base of the shelf and the pallet. On a lift of up to 16 m., this is very floor flatness specification is so tight.
